Reformed in 2017, currently the club has more than 50 Student members from the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The club, with support of the college, has been participating in the prestigious National Level Intercollegiate ‘SAE India BAJA’ Competition every year since then, with team name ‘RCOE RETRO’.

SAE India BAJA 2019

The BAJA SAE Series® is an event for the undergraduate engineering students, organized globally by the Society of Automotive Engineers, USA. The event originated in the name of Mini – BAJA, in the year 1976 at University of Carolina. Since then, the event has spanned across six countries – USA, Mexico, South Africa, Korea, Brazil and India. The BAJA SAE tasks the students to design, fabricate and validate a single seated four – wheeled off road vehicle to take part in series of events that tests the vehicle for the sound engineering practices that have gone into it, the agility of the vehicle in terms of gradability, speed, acceleration and maneuverability characteristics and finally its ability to endure that back breaking durability test.

“It was a very good platform to display our engineering skills towards the manufacturing of the off-road ATV. Moreover the trip gave us a chance to interact with students of different Universities and exchange ideas about curriculum as well as extra-curricular activities that they have in their respective Universities. The support provided by the college was very helpful for us to make it to the event. Also the 25 member team gave their best to make the presentation complete. We hope this event is a stepping stone to the future batches of mechanical engineering to not only score good in their studies was also to succeed in various other intercollegiate competition.”
