Tour to Civil Engineering Department

Civil engineering department is part of Rizvi College of engineering since inception and aims at creating the finest civil engineers who can effectively work in the industry as well as show their innovations in the research field.

Building Materials & Construction Technology Lab

  •  To know the properties of construction materials such Cement, Sand and Aggregate, various testing are carried out. Strength of concrete and advanced construction materials can be also be known under various testing machines like Compression Testing Machine, flexural testing machine, compaction factor as per Indian Standard codes
  • Equipment : Compression testing Machine

Transportation Engineering Lab

  • In order to analyze road stability, different mechanical properties of road stone are determined by carrying out simple tests. The test can be used to assess the suitability of aggregates with reference to the crushing strength for various types of pavement components, Toughness as a measure of resistance to impact of wheel load, Resistance to wear or hardness etc.
  • The Transportation Engineering lab is equipped with the instruments to conduct all standardized tests to assess quality of highway materials, pavement evaluation and traffic engineering studies
  • Equipment : Los Angeles abrasion testing machine

Geotechnical Engineering Lab

Determination of soil condition is the most significant task in every engineering activity. In order to predict its behavior under different conditions for the safe design of structures, properties of soil such as bearing capacity, cohesion etc can be determined by both field & laboratory methods.

Equipment: Tri-axial Testing Machine , Direct shear test, Unconfined Compression test

Environmental Engineering & Engineering Geology Lab

  • Lab provides good insight into different experimental methods relevant to Environmental Engineering. In this lab various tests on drinking water and sewage samples are carried out to check pH value, total dissolved solids, BOD and COD, total suspended particles etc,as per BIS standard.
  • Equipment: B.O.D. cooling incubator, Jar test Apparatus,

Applied Hydraulics & Fluid Mechanics Lab

  • The lab is consisting of water flow measuring devices in order to understand various flow characteristics such as pressure, velocity, rate of flow etc. The tests carried out on hydraulic machineries such as Turbines and pumps develops understanding of the performance under varying speeds of turbines whereas experiments conducted on open channel flow helps to understand behavior of flow.
  • Equipment: Turbine and Tilting Flume

Surveying

  • Surveying deals with measurement of distances and angles between different points and lines that help civil engineers determine how to draw up plans for public buildings, roads, bridges and a variety of other construction and infrastructure projects. This can be done by using very conventional instruments like chain/tape, compass to High-precision electromechanical and optical equipment ,GPS.

  • Equipment:

    Total Station, Theodolite, GPS
