Tata Sons Chairman believes that India is capable of becoming artificial intelligence (AI) capital of the world. A technology policy framework set by the government can accelerate the AI development across the country.
While speaking at the RAISE Summit, Tata Sons Chairman, N Chandrasekaran said, “India clearly has the potential to become the AI capital of the world. The reason I say this is not just because I am here in India and I love India and so on. We are in a sweet spot where we have the talent and a kind of complexity that only AI can solve.”
India has a unique set of challenges and problems that can be addressed with technology. AI can enrich services like healthcare, and education in India.
According to Chandrasekaran, solving unique problems such as data governance should be the global standard for data residency, localisation, privacy and security in India.
Tata Sons chairman further added that AI solutions should be used to solve common man’s problems. The current set of solutions are centred around software professions and data scientists. Techies working on AI should broaden the vision to cover farmers, truck drivers, teachers, and truck drivers.
He said, “As the world’s largest democracy and as a place where data is getting created at such a high volume and where there are many problems, all of which can be solved through AI, I really think India should seize the opportunity to lead this globally. We should not lose the momentum, but we should quickly get into execution.”
