The library is the heart of all academic activities of the college. Rizvi’s library is continuously upgraded and keeps on adding knowledge enriching books to its stock which boast around 28000+ books, periodicals , Newspapers, Cd-Rom’s , Journals , Magazines & online Journals. Moreover membership of IIT Powai Libray is a great help to the students and faculties. Demand for any new books or any other publication by student is met with a positive and prompt response.
The library follows Open Access System (OAS) in order to achieve ‘Every Reader has his/her book’ and ‘Save the time of the reader ‘. The library is fully automated and all library work is executed with the help of Library housekeeping Software. The charging and discharging of documents at circulation desk is computerized. Three computers are dedicated for OPAC where in the students and teachers retrieves the bibliographic details of the documents to locate the books .
The library at Rizvi College of Engineering provides News Paper Clipping Service. Clippings from various newspapers about science, technology, economy and politics are displayed on a board meant for it. The students use them to write a report or make a presentation on current events.
Current Awareness Service refers to dissemination of information that will keep the students well-informed and up-to-date in their fields of basic interest as well as in related subjects is called Current Awareness Service. The college library offers excellent CAS service.
Reference service, is the process of helping readers to identify sources of information in response to a particular query, problem or assignment to be done. The college librarian is readily available to help out students to avail reference service.
The college library has got tie-up with various agencies of knowledge which are accessible to students if need be.
The library at Rizvi College of Engineering has Indexing Service through OPAC in place and it is used often by the students.
The college library procures books of students’ interest and demand frequently. Under this service, the students are informed about the recent additions to the library through their registered Email ID with library.
The college library shelves old journals and maintains them properly so as they can be accessed by the students who may require it to prepare project or research paper.
The college library has a Book Bank facility, which is very much helpful in fulfilling student’s requirement for the prescribed books on semester basis. Book Bank functions as one section of the library.
As boosting measure , topper of every class is given an additional library card which a student can use for entire semester to using which a student can issue a book in addition to a book that can be issued using normal library card.
Gold Card: This is an additional library card issued to all the girl students in the month of January every year to commemorate the birth anniversary of great social worker who empowered women with education, Smt.Savitribai Phule.
